Lisa has attended FUMC West Memphis for over 28 years. She served as Director of Music and Worship from 1995-2001 and has been co-directing the choir for 16 years. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a BA in Vocal Music Education. She is in her 33rd year of teaching music. She is currently the choir director at Marion High School, but has also taught at West Memphis High, Richland Elementary and in Hughes.

Lisa has been married to Barry for 31 years and they have two children. Riley is a registered nurse and Rene is married to Nathan Doss and she is following in her mother’s footsteps as she is the music teacher at Richland Elementary. In addition to her love of music, Lisa enjoys cooking and spending time with her family at Spring River in Hardy, Arkansas.

 

Lisa believes that music as the ability to speak to human beings in ways that mere words cannot. Its place in worship is a way for God's people to corporately offer our praise and thanksgiving. She believes that singing is essential to real worship and that the role of our choir and musicians is to enhance worship and help lead the congregation in this act of worship.
